4/7 game time is 6pm. Might change. Remember our new strategy, eh?

slight chance I may be running a little late if there is heavy traffic coming back into the city, but I am anticipating being there on time.

I am out for tonight.  I have a meeting at work until 5:30 and won't be able to make it into the city for a 6:00 game.  See you next week.

Ian, can you send me the roster so I can calculate what everyone owes?

Cool. She can take Robin's spot. Roster is: Ellen, Robin, Sue, Linda, Liz, Tammy, JD, Ian, Tom, Mark, Patrick, Steve, Jason. So Robin, just divide it up 13 ways. Thanks!

Sorry team, I'm gonna miss tomorrow's game.  I have a late meeting and there's little to no chance I could get my stuff and make it in time.  Sorry, if the meeting gets canceled, I'll keep yall updated.  Good luck

Hello Team,

I found out today that I won't be able to play on May 19 and 26 and June 2. I will be out of town.

4/21 game time is 8pm. Some thoughts and good observations emailed to me by a teammate about this week's game:

What I noticed is that we would start to collapse the spacing in the front 3 a bit as we kept the pressure on and that allowed the defense to slip into a 2 person bottleneck in the middle and the third defender would start to move forward.  Their fourth would simply fly to goal.  We would shoot and the ball would get caught up in the bottleneck which allowed them to clear very quickly to the two that were already moving to goal – which made for 2v1.  Alternatively, if we separated too much in the front – they would double team the ball carrier and carry the ball away and dump up to the most forward player.

We had good pressure forward, in general, and worked through the last minute of the game which was nice to see.  We possessed the ball nicely but delivered it slowly.  This allowed the defense more time to position themselves to either harass, interrupt, intercept or block a lot of our services – whether they were shots or passes.  One question - and I guess this is for JD more than anyone – if there is a 2v1 and the woman back is the only defender for the moment – defend the ball carrier and force the perfect pass or defend the pass and let the goalie deal with the ball carrier's shot?

(Me again) The answer is to take the better player. Liz is the exception because she gets on the ball carrier so fast and muddles it up, they slow down, giving reinforcements more time to get there. She also pinches up further than others on D, giving the other team less space to work w/and forcing them to clear it more when she is out. D, pinch up, then win the footrace, if needed. LOOK FOR LINDA AT THE POINT. SHE HAS A SOLID SHOT, PUTS IT ON NET, AND THAT MEANS TIPS AND REBOUNDS. SHE IS OFTEN LEFT WIDE OPEN. LINDA, YELL FOR IT TO REMIND US OR SLAP YOUR STICK ON THE GROUND (I do that a lot when I'm at the piont; works pretty well). (If you haven't played against Liz, you don't know; she's like you freaking shadow! I play against her at Sat open hockey from time to time. A real pain! I would add to the thoughts that I sucked this week and that we need to pass more to get better angle shots. I know all our opponents now and get feedback from the goalies after every match. Sam felt that he only really had to make 5 saves; the rest of the shots were goals or bad angles where he simply had to be in standard positions. The last two goals, passes from Steve to Tom, are great examples of passing for a good shot (nice work, you two). Remember, they are a good team. Won last season and killed the Crease Monkeys in the final. Stay focused on preparing for the playoffs. Feel free to share thoughts w/me and I'll post here, as well.

Thanks, see ya Tues!

Hi all,

I have a conference to go to that ends at 7:30. If it ends early I might be able to make it, but most likely count me out.

Good Luck!

P.S. Thanks for asking about the lip Mark. It was ugly for a day but went down well.

Ian - sorry for the late notice, I am out tonight, have been battling a pretty good sinus infection since the weekend, was hoping to feel better by this morning, but I'm not.  See you folks next week.  Good luck tonight.

4/28 game time is 6pm. Leave work now! Good game this week; way to keep it together. I think we gave up most of the goals when we started to drift back and let up w/the lead. Keep the pressure on! Look for Linda at the point. I see her open a lot when I'm off and it's criminal not to feed her; she can fire that and rebounds, etc, will be plentiful if she doesn't score. Linda, and anyone else at point, feel free to yell at us. For me, I have my head down a lot when I have the ball. Thanks!

Hi all,
I must have done something funny in the last game because my ankle got all swollen by Thursday. It is getting better, but I think I should rest another week before playing. Best of luck!!
